Pride in Hands-On Craftsmanship

Scott Santanni grew up in his the family building business, and by 2001 he was able to buy the business from his father. He had become vice president, and earned that title by learning the ropes of the trade and business sides of building. The beauty of this continuing family business can be seen in the cohesive unit of the team he works with. “It is like a family,” said Scott. “I have know some of our subcontractors since I was 10 years old. We also have solid relationships with top notch, reliable suppliers.”

His own expertise stems from three generations of carpentry, and the fact that he does his own is a mark of pride in the craft and materials. ‘I love wood,” said Santanni, whose rich knowledge is showcased in detailing, built-ins and artful combinations in Santanni homes. “Our home plans are originals,” he said. “And the framing is such a key element in building- it sets the standard of what the home will be.”

Scott Santanni is excited about the direction the custom build and remodeling company has grown, emphasizing healthy environments that are comfortable, individually tailored, and energy efficient.

He feels that understanding new standards of today’s best building practices is vital. “Our homes rate in the upper 99th percentile in the U.S. for insulation tightness.” Santanni himself commits to continuing education about new materials and insulation, for example, that gives the company the leading edge when it comes to enduring and effective materials and building practices.

Outdoor living spaces are another area of great interest for Santanni. “Minnesotans love to be outside when weather permits,” said Santanni, “We love to give them that chance to enjoy the outside right at home, by expanding their living space with beautiful decks, patios, pergolas, outdoor kitchens, fireplaces, swimming pools and other water features. Our landscaping brings it all together with an outdoor environment that adds so much aesthetically and functionally.”

Santanni began in new home construction and gradually moved into remodeling, which now comprises about 90 percent of the business, primarily in the southeast metro, but active in other areas as well. Another aspect of remodeling that Santanni Custom Homes excels in is the remedial side. “ We understand the structure of building and materials, and we literally rebuild and remedy structures of stucco and cedar, for example, that are leaky due to the way materials were installed,” said Santanni.

Trust is a huge factor for anyone who is selecting a custom builder. “We are very proud of our hands-on service,” said Santanni. “”We never take short cuts. We provide home design and interior design services, and our homeowners can count on weekly meeting, where they are totally updated, and guided through the selection process.”

Santanni’s real advertising comes from the homeowners they’ve worked with. What could be better than this: “Thank you for a wonderful home. The process was fantastic and we appreciated all of your hard work. We look forward to a lot of happy times.”
